1. What is Bulk Billing?
Bulk Billing is when a provider bills Medicare directly for any medical or allied health service that the patient receives.
If a practitioner bulk bills for a service, the practitioner undertakes to accept the relevant Medicare benefit as full payment for the service. Additional charges for that service cannot be raised.
2. What is covered by Medicare?
Medicare is the basis of Australia’s health care system and covers many health care costs. You can choose whether to have Medicare cover only, or a combination of Medicare and private health insurance. Citizens and most permanent Australian residents are eligible for Medicare.
